Connections: Hopeless Wanderer by Mumford and Sons

Chapter 37 (The part where Jane and Mr. Rochester get back together) really reminded me of this song by Mumford and Sons (These are just parts of the lyrics, not the whole song).

"You heard my voice
I came out of the woods by choice
Shelter also gave their shade
But in the dark I have no name"

This reminded me of how they heard each other calling, and Jane immediately went to find Rochester.

"So leave that click in my head
And I will remember the words that you said
Left a clouded mind and a heavy heart
But I was sure we could see a new start"

This reminded me about how they never forgot each other. Jane leaving really broke Rochester, and Rochester's secret hurt Jane, but they still want to be together.

"I wrestled long with my youth
We tried so hard to live in the truth
But do not tell me all is fine
When I lose my head, I lose my spine"

I thought this verse really fit Rochester's situation. He really regrets what he did in his youth by marrying Bertha, and had to live a lie in his relationship with Jane. He was even okay with living this lie, but Jane wasn't, and that devastated him. Now he's more rational, and understands why Jane did that, and doesn't want her to sugarcoat what happened.
